How much education is required to become a Doctor of Chiropractic?

« Back

Four years of chiropractic college is required (4,200 hours with 1,000 of clinical training) after completing specific undergraduate requirements. The entire educational background is very similar to medical schooling. However, the chiropractic student will spend more time in anatomy and physiology, diagnosis, radiology, biomechanics, technique and nutrition, where as the medical student will spend more time with pathology and pharmacology.

Following completion of the chiropractic curriculum, four parts of a National Chiropractic Board Examination must be passed along with state specific boards to obtain licensure.

Every year the state of Ohio requires a minimum of twenty-four hours of continuing education.
